Ingham Volunteer Area Committee
Ingham is a rural town, central to the Hinchinbrook Shire, and situated between the main cities of Townsville and Cairns. Sugar cane, fishing and beef are three of the main industries of the area. The community is supported by a range of very active service clubs. Local tropical produce is celebrated.
Entertainment is distinguished in the form of the Maraka Festival, Italian Festival, International Food Night, fishing competitions, theatre productions, dance, music and visual arts events, and the Tyto Precinct itself, which encompasses a regional library, art gallery, information centre and wetlands, conference centre and restaurant. Easy access to a variety of islands and the Great Barrier Reef, with festivals and events aiming to acknowledge and celebrate the wide range of cultures and environments within the Hinchinbrook area, tend to encompass a sense of community as well as attract large numbers of ‘grey nomads’ and international tourists.

The Ingham Volunteer Area Committee work hard to involve the Ingham Community. We are lucky to have been sponsored by the local service clubs in the establishment of the Committee in the Ingham area. Our inaugural committee includes three Year 12 students, two of those also holding the role of school captain. A number of police representatives, including a Police Liaison Officer, regularly attend meetings and support the Crime Stoppers activities. We receive great support from local businesses that display Crime Stoppers posters.
We are a proud, passionate and involved group of volunteers dedicated to raise funds and promote Crime Stoppers throughout the Hinchinbrook area.
