Volunteer Spotlight – Crime Stoppers Queensland Volunteer awarded Australia Day Citizen of the Year
Congratulations to our Crime Stoppers Far North Queensland Volunteer Area Committee Event Co-Ordinator, Norma Moloney, who received the Mareeba Shire Council’s 2022 Australia Day Citizen of the Year Award for her work in the local community.
Crime Stoppers Queensland is proud to recognise Norma Moloney for her commitment to crime-fighting, and her contributions to volunteering in Mareeba.
Described as a ‘quiet achiever’, Norma has been an active member of the community for many years, working tirelessly behind the scenes to help keep residents safe.
Her fundraising efforts were acknowledged at the special award ceremony, assisting to secure funds to buy a much-needed vehicle and a purpose-built trailer to help educate the public and take the Crime Stoppers message to regional centres throughout the Cape and west into the gulf.
All while running a local business, Norma contributes her time and skills to various community organisations including Crime Stoppers, the Mt Emerald Wind Farm, the Atherton Tableland Caledonian Society and Mareeba Cricket.
Crime Stoppers has been part of the Mareeba community since 2019 and is the most trusted information receiving service for people wanting to report unsolved crime and suspicious activity.
